Many gas users do not require their cylinder every week of the year and understandably do not want to rent a high pressure gas cylinder they will only use occasionally. However, disposable cartridges are very expensive in relation to larger cylinders. Hobbyweld provides the solution and it couldn’t be easier.

Oxygen

This gas is commonly and traditionally used with a fuel gas (propane, acetylene or propylene) for cutting, welding, brazing and soldering. Oxygen supports the combustion of these gases and enables a much higher flame temperature to be achieved in comparison with air. Our oxygen cylinders are filled from a bulk tank which ensures optimum purity, a 1% reduction in purity can increase consumption of oxygen by 20% or more, so you can see the benefits of a professionally filled gas bottle. Nitrogen

A popular purging gas bought by refrigeration engineers and vehicle air contitioning firms. Just like carbon dioxide, nitrogen has a number of uses, such as; food preservation, wine propelling and is even used in many lightbulbs. Nitrogen is also used frequently to provide balloon drops as an alternative to compresses air. It has gained popularity in recent years from amateur racing clubs for inflating tyres and is often supplied when you’re getting your tyres changed on your car. Many customers ask us for the purity level of our gas, we can confirm that our nitrogen has a 99.995% purity (often referred to as ‘4.5 grade’) and is free from any oxygen. Our rent free gas cylinder is compact, lightweight and is perfect for on-site work.

Helium Balloon Gas

The gas lighter than air, with more applications than you might think. This helium bottle is the same size and is filled to the same pressure as our welding cylinders providing the capability to fill a massive number of balloons, making it perfect for weddings, birthdays, festive parties and much more. The capacity of this gas cylinder makes it a great alternative to disposable party pack bottles and much cheaper for larger parties too. There are a number of fittings which can be used with our helium cylinder, ones specifically for latex balloons, and some which fill foil balloons and larger professional tools with hoses and guns which cater for both types. If you have a large event coming up soon, you will not be disappointed with the value of this gas canister.

Carbon Dioxide

Carbon dioxide is suitable for a wide range of applications, our Industrial grade cylinder can be used for hydroponics, aquatic gardening and is often used as a low grade welding gas, however, the Hobbyweld 5 and 15 gases are far more suitable products for welding purposes.

Pure Argon TIG Welding Gas

Generally used when TIG welding stainless steel, carbon steel and aluminium it can also be used on a MIG welder for aluminium and alloys in conjunction with the correct MIG wire. Argon is typically suitable for most TIG welding applications providing a capability of welding at any depth. The repair of alloy wheels, farming equipment, vehicle body panels, model work and metals used for aircraft are among many of Argons popular uses; however it is also used in many applications that you wouldn’t expect, such as filling the gap between your double glazing and the space in a light bulbs. The Hobbyweld argon cylinder is filled with high purity, high quality gas, enabling us to boast a minimum purity of 99.995%, giving you the best possible results.

Hobbyweld 5 Original Welding Gas

A popular shielding gas, ideally suited for MIG welding, in particular sheet metal and thin sections of mild steel under 7mm in thickness, such as car bodywork and light sheet work. Hobbyweld 5 is a unique blend of Argon, Carbon Dioxide and Oxygen gas mix (often referred to as a tri-mix or an argon shield); it is very easy to use and provides a sound weld at very little cost. This gas mix offers a great number of benefits over using straight carbon dioxide for welding; it decreases the chances of porosity, welding spatter and oxidation. Hobbyweld 5 is our number one vehicle restoration gas and is a favoured mix with customers restoring classic cars and motorcycles. In short Hobbyweld 5 is a rent free welding gas cylinder with a number of benefits – it’s easy to see why it is the fastest selling gas in our range.

​Hobbyweld 15 Original Welding Gas

A specially formulated Argon, Carbon Dioxide and Oxygen gas mix (often referred to as a tri-mix or argon shield) which can be used in a number of welding positions. The name comes from the 15% carbon dioxide content; the extra CO2 gives this gas the capability of MIG welding carbon steels up to 18mm in thickness. Welders will experience good arc stability and a broad heat which is due in part to the 2% oxygen content. The combined benefits of good welding performance and minimal spatter make it very popular among the agricultural, on-site and mobile welding market. The wide operating range makes Hobbyweld 15 the best choice for structural steel work, medium gauge plate and general fabrication.
